Man Utd have ‘a verbal agreement’ in place for first transfer in January

Manchester United have reportedly made a verbal agreement with Juventus to sign striker Mario Mandzukic in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils have been poor up front this season, and have scored less in their opening eight games than both newly-promoted teams Norwich and Aston Villa.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood have all suffered with injuries this season, and without Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, United have struggled to find the back of the net.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure to get the Red Devils firing again, and has identified Mandzukic as the right man to fix the problem.

According to Italian publication TuttoSport, via Sport Witness, the player’s entourage already have a verbal agreement in place with United ahead of January.

But it may not be a foregone conclusion as other teams are keeping tabs on the 33-year-old.

Mandzukic has not yet featured for Juventus this season, and is reportedly open to leaving Turin to secure first team football elsewhere.

United will likely offer him a one-season deal, given Mandzukic’s age, before splashing serious cash on a new signing in the summer transfer window.
